In what could be the best news of 2013 thus far, HBO announced today that they will be bringing back Jason Schwartzman, Ted Danson, and Zach Galifianakis for one last go as hipster comedy Bored to Death gets the film treatment.
For those unfamiliar with the plot (and I am guessing that due to its cancellation, that is a lot of you), Jason Schwartzman stars as struggling mystery writer and part-time private eye Jonathan Ames (Based loosely on the show creator). Danson plays a father like mentor, the always high George Christopher, and Galifianakis plays Ames’ comic artist friend Ray Hueston. Together they solvemini-mysteries, the last of which was Jonathan trying to discover who his biological father was.
The show ran for three seasons and although it was a critical darling, it picked up very little in terms of viewership. However, following the Entourage model, which is also expecting its own film in the near future, HBO has agreed to a film although few details are known at this moment.
Nevertheless, put me down as me excited!
