The House of Mouse is putting their big gun back in the spotlight. Set to premiere on the Disney Chanel this June, Disney will air 19 animated 2D (thank god) shorts. Mickey, himself, has undergone a bit of a makeover since his last few appearances, hearkening back to classic Disney animation styles of the 1920s and 30s.
According to Gary Marsh, President and CCO of Disney Channels Worldwide, “”By bringing Mickey’s comedic adventures to life with vitality, humor, inventiveness and charm, the entire Disney Television Animation team of artists, animators and directors have worked to capture the essence of what Walt Disney himself created 85 years ago.”
And Disney is bringing in a lot of well known animation pedigree to work on this project. Episode directors include Aaron Springer (“SpongeBob SquarePants,” “Gravity Falls“) & Clay Morrow (“Dexter’s Laboratory,” “The Powerpuff Girls“) and art director Joseph Holt (“The Powerpuff Girls”).
