Anita Sarkeesian’s Tropes vs Women in Video Games: Damsel in Distress Part 2

This is another great episode in Anita Sarkeesian’s Troves vs Women in Video Games series. Like the first episode, this one continues to look at the use of damsels in distress as a plot device, and the harm (knowingly or not) that it causes on the representation of women in video games.

What is most interesting is, when you list example after example, just how dependent game writers are on what is a very cliche way of progressing the story forward. Not only does the trope engender a type of misogyny, but also, when you see it all laid out as Sarkeesian does here, it just comes off as bad writing.
