E3 is over and now, thanks to the beauty of Youtube, we are getting to actually see some of those behind-closed-doors demos that journalists were privy to on the show floor. In the case of the following Tomb Raider demo, I am almost saddened that the Microsoft press conference was relegated to that other very scripted/guided mountain climbing set-piece. This 15 minute vertical slice is so much cooler, and so much more in line with what I really loved in the last Tomb Raider game. I love that there is a tree climbing mechanic that will help stealth your way through certain sections. Also, it was cool that the combat seemed so open in how you approach any given situation. Oh, and fuck bears! Those things are scary!
