Forget who won the actual trophies. The real winner at the Grammys last night was Kendrick Lamar who left all viewers silent with one of the most stunning and socially conscious performances ever televised. Yes he won 5 awards last night, but this performance won all of 2015, 2016, and beyond. This performance was a statement loaded with racial consciousness and frustration at the lack of progress we have actually made in the decades since the civil rights movement. Leave no doubt, this was a statement as much about politics as art.
