Best New Music of January 2013

I was thinking a fun way to end each month would be to create a playlist for those interested. Nothing big. 20 songs that I found myself listening to the most over the course of the month.

A few highlights from this month: The Antlers do a sort of re-imagining of their 2011 song “No Windows” in the awesome orchestral Empty Castles (Technically released in Dec. 2012, but oh well); The first David Bowie song in almost 10 years; the addictive pop sound of Local Natives; A$AP Rocky killing it in his first studio single; and, Foxygen standing out as one of the great new artists of the year so far. Oh and let’s not forget the return of Yo La Tengo and Tegan and Sara.
