While the sudden passing of Satoru Iwata is nothing but heartbreaking, it is great to see all of this footage being unearthed that showed off Iwata as the true gaming enthusiast that he was. In that vein, it was awesome to see Polygon unearth a 2005 GDC key note given by Iwata where he explained that in his heart, he was a true gamer. I, along with all of the gaming community, cannot help but feel the dark sadness this loss will hold over the industry and all who love it, but am also thankful that Iwata was able to leave the lasting impression on video games that he has as an executive, a programmer, and a gamer. Our thoughts remain wholly with his family, friends, and loved ones.
