I have professed my love for stop motion animation on more than a few occasions, and Shiny, like the best of them, takes a minimalist everyday item and works it into something completely whimsical. I’m reminded a lot of the work of PES who was able to convey so much of that twee whimsy with the most mundane of objects. In the case of Shiny, clothes represent the paintbrush and a hardwood floor makes up the canvas, and the work of art is nothing short of some of the most creative fight choreography I have seen in years. Think those amazing stick figure fight animations that used to dominate streaming sites long past.
Shiny is written and directed by Daniel Cloud Campos & Spencer Susser.
